MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Following its mixed results at the Keiser Holiday Classic this past week, Florida Memorial University will be looking to "get right" this week as it will play three home games against teams with below .500 records beginning Tuesday when it hosts Florida National University in the FMU Wellness Center.

Fans can purchase tickets for Tuesday's game, which is set for a 6 p.m. tip-off, online at www.FMUAthletics.com/Tickets or at the Wellness Center ticket window on the day of the game for $5 dollars. Florida Memorial students with valid ID may enter the game for free.

The Lions enter the week having had the holiday weekend off following their participation in the KU Holiday Classic in West Palm Beach. FMU split its two games across the two days of the tourney, making easy work of Voorhees College (S.C.) and dropping a close game to Brewton-Parker College (Ga.) this past Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

The loss to BPC snaped a four-game winning streak that Florida Memorial had built, which included three consecutive Sun Conference wins.

Through this past week, Florida Memorial head coach Gregory Stanback has seen guards Aliyah-Deen Ahmad and Chantel Barnett take on significant roles within the team's offensive and defensive production. Ahmad has averaged 13 points and 5 rebounds per game over the past four while Barnett, the 2020-21 Sun Conference Freshman of the Year, has recorded at least 14 points in each of the past four games while also totaling 17 steals in four games.

Barnett's and Ahmad's production has buoyed the team while leading scorer and 2020-21 First Team All-Sun Conference performer Keaynna Tolbert has seen her production fluctuate a bit over the same span. Hampered by a lower extremity injury – that may or may not affect her status for Tuesday's game – Tolbert has alternated between scoring in single digits and scoring at least 20 points in the past four games.

Tolbert's health notwithstanding, the Lions (4-4) should have more than enough capacity to overpower Florida National. The Conquistadors (1-6) have had a rough season up to this point. They enter on a four-game losing streak and have had four of their six total losses this season come by 40 points or more.

Historically, FMU has made easy work of the independent NAIA program. The Lions are 4-0 all-time against Florida National and has won the four meetings by an average margin of 24 points.

Look for Stanback to dial up early defensive pressure to force FNU into turnovers and create easy transition scoring opportunities for his team, throwing an early haymaker to knock the starch out of the Conquistadors and allow the Lions to cruise into an easy victory.
