MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's women's flag football team will be back in action this weekend, with the Lady Lions playing their first road game of the season when it takes on Warner University Saturday afternoon.
 
FMU (0-1, 0-1 The Sun Conference) made history this past weekend when it played its first-ever collegiate women's flag football game.
 
With the historic day and all the fanfare of the season-opener in the rearview mirror, the Lions and head coach Jonathan Alvarez have focused their attention on the business of winning.
 
The team showed flashes of aptitude in the season opener – a 23-0 loss to St. Thomas University. Linsley Francois tied for the game-high 3 receptions while racking up a team-high 20 receiving yards and the team held St. Thomas to just 7 points in the first half.
 
Warner University (1-1, 0-1) has the advantage of having played two games already compared to FMU's one. The Royals are led by quarterback Dakota Naples, who's shown that she's quite comfortable chucking the ball all around the field – evident by the 62 passes she's thrown through two games.
 
The Royals' passing game will test FMU, especially as the Lady Lions are still working a handful of players into their lineup – former women's soccer goalkeeper Sarah Lugo and former women's basketball forward Meaurie Pickett.
