MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's women's basketball team will be looking to win its second straight game and continue its dominance over Warner University when it travels to Lake Wales, Florida to face the Royals Saturday afternoon in WU's Turner Athletic Center.

Florida Memorial, which owns the all-time series with Warner University 14-1 and won the first two meetings with the Royals this season by an average of 13.5 points, will see its weekend game tip-off at 2 p.m. and will play the opening game of a standard conference women-men doubleheader.

Visiting fans will not be allowed to attend the game inside the Turner Athletic Center but will be able to view the game via a free online live stream.

The Lady Lions (8-9, 8-8 The Sun Conference) do enter Saturday's game having completed the regular season sweep of Ave Maria University with a 67-54 victory over the Gyrenes.

Freshman guard Chantel Barnett recorded a career-high 24 points this past Thursday while junior Keaynna Tolbert – the leading scorer in the Sun Conference – played the role of facilitator, as she finished with a game-high 6 assists while also grabbing 7 rebounds and scoring 18 points.

Florida Memorial head coach Gregory Stanback also welcomed the healthy return of freshman guard Janae Markes this past Thursday. Markes return gave the Lions some much-needed depth in their backcourt – as they're still without guards Destiny Marin (upper extremity), Micah Cooper (lower extremity), and Jamari Tillman (lower extremity) – and she gave FMU 3 points and 2 rebounds in 18 minutes off the bench.

Cooper and Tillman are both doubtful for Saturday's game while Marin's status for the game against the Royals is unknown.

Warner University (6-16, 1-14) enters Saturday's game struggling – mightily – as it is in the midst of a six-game losing streak and has fallen into the basement of the Sun Conference. The Royals most recently lost to Thomas University, a team that entered that game with just one victory, by 10 – pushing them down to the ninth spot in the standings of the nine-team league.

Where the Lady Lions have had the most success against Warner this season has been on the defensive end of the floor. In the previous meeting, FMU used full-court and half-court traps to stymie the Royals' guards and forced them into 24 turnovers – 19 coming on steals – and turned those turnovers into 30 points.

FMU will likely employ a similar scheme as it not only limits Warner's offense but also bolsters its own offense.
