MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University's postseason road starts at home as the 3-seed Lions will host 6-seed and rival St. Thomas University in the opening round of the Sun Conference Tournament Tuesday night at 5:30 p.m. in the FMU Wellness Center.

About The Lions (15-9. 11-5 TSC)
  • FMU settled for the No. 3 spot after falling 77-69 to Webber International University this past Saturday, giving WIU the 2-seed and a first-round bye.
  • The Lions were shorthanded this past weekend, playing without the talents of senior guard Keaynna Tolbert – the team's third-leading scorer.
  • Chantel Barnett led the team with 18 points against the Warriors and Monique Esbrand did her part to pick up some of the offensive slack as she totaled 17 points and 7 rebounds.
  • The thorn Florida Memorial's paw was the fact that it made just four three-pointers against Webber – shooting just 16.7 percent from long range.
  • FMU defeated St. Thomas in its two regular season meetings this season, winning both games by double digits.

Scouting St. Thomas (11-15, 7-9)
  • St. Thomas slid into the final qualifying spot of the Sun Conference standings, losing three of its final four games but winning its regular season finale against Webber International on Feb. 17.
  • The Bobcats' final three losses were by a combined 15 points, including a close 61-66 defeat to No. 1 Southeastern – a game where STU held a lead 5-point lead during the fourth quarter.
  • Sophomore guard Brooke Bogatz leads St. Thomas in scoring, averaging 12.6 points per game, operating mostly as a reserve.

Series History
  • The Lions trail the all-time series against St. Thomas 8-18.
  • Tuesday's game will be just the second postseason meeting between the neighboring schools – FMU defeat the Bobcats in the Sun Conference Tournament back in 2011.
  • Florida Memorial has won the past three meetings against STU and is 6-5 when playing at home against St. Thomas.

Keys To Victory
  • Tolbert's health and status for Tuesday will be a huge factor. Without her, the Lions lose its best rim attacker and shot creator.
  • Whether Tolbert is available or not, FMU's three-point shooting has been directly tied to its success this season – the magic number is at least seven made threes.
