MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – There's an adage in the big book of sports clichés that says, "it's hard to beat a team three times in a season".

3-seed Florida Memorial University will be out to prove that axiom correct when it faces 2-seed Webber International University in the Sun Conference Championship Tournament semifinals Friday night in Southeastern University's Furnace Gym.

The Lions (16-9) and Warriors are scheduled to take the floor at 7:15 p.m. but the game will officially tip 30 minutes following the preceding semifinal game between 5-seed Ave Maria University and 1-seed Southeastern.

About The Lions (16-9)

FMU punched its ticket to the tourney semis with an 80-72 win over rival St. Thomas University this past Tuesday.
The Lions had five players finish in double figures Tuesday, led by Chantel Barnett's game-high 24 points.
While Florida Memorial didn't shoot the ball exceedingly great (43.8 percent from the field), it did surpass its "magic number" of seven made three-pointers – going 8-of-28 from long range.
In games where the Lions have made at least seven three-pointers, they are 13-2.
It was announced Wednesday that senior guard and team leading scorer Aliyah-Deen Ahmad received All-Sun Conference First Team honors.
Senior guard Keaynna Tolbert and junior guard Natalia Leguizamon received All-Sun Conference Second Team honors.

Scouting Webber International (20-6)

Webber International enters the semifinal round rested after earning a first-round bye – by defeating FMU in the teams' regular season finales.
The Warriors are making their third straight SUN Tournament appearance this season.
WIU had three players receive All-SUN First Team honors – Jaida Burgess, LeAndra Franklin, and Eletra Graham.
In both of its two wins against FMU this season, Webber out-rebounded the Lions and held them to a combined 13.5 percent shooting from the three-point line.

Series History

Florida Memorial trails the all-time series against Webber 12-24.
The teams have played each other three times in the postseason, with WIU winning all three meetings.
They last squared off in the postseason during the 2019-20 season – with the Warriors defeating the Lions 74-70 in the opening round of the Sun Championship Tournament.

Keys To Victory

FMU's ability to knock down shots in the half court will continue to be a major barometer for its success – the magic number for made threes remains seven.
Rebounding has hurt the Lions when going against Webber International this season – they must win the rebound battle or find a way to mitigate against it.
