MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will be looking to keep its winning streak going as it will travel to southwest Florida to face Ave Maria University Tuesday night at AMU's Donahue Gymnasium.

Tuesday's game, which is set for an 8:15 p.m. tip-off is a make-up game from the originally scheduled January 8th game that was postponed for health and safety reasons.

About The Lions (14-6, 10-2 TSC)
  • FMU is enjoying one of its best stretches in recent program history, riding a six-game winning streak.
  • The Lions just completed a "Peach State Sweep", winning back-to-back road games at College of Coastal Georgia and Thomas University respectively.
  • Florida Memorial cruised past TU 101-71, posting its second-highest point total this season while junior guard Natalia Leguizamon and Monique Esbrand each scored 21 points.
  • Leguizamon knocked a season-best seven three-pointers in the game against Thomas and earned Sun Conference Player of the Week honors for her performance this past week.
  • FMU has already clinched a spot in the conference postseason tournament and currently sits in the No. 2 spot in the TSC standings.
  • The Lions' quartet of Aliyah-Deen Ahmad (13.6), Chantel Barnett (12.5), Keaynna Tolbert (11.5), and Leguizamon (13.1) all are averaging double-digit point totals this season.
  • Florida Memorial has swept five TSC opponents (won both regular season matchups) this season – the first time that has happened under head coach Gregory Stanback.

Scouting Ave Maria (11-10, 4-7 TSC)
  • Ave Maria enters the game having won its past two games – against Thomas University and Edward Waters University.
  • The Gyrenes are enjoying a bit of a renaissance season, already totaling more wins this season (11) than it had in 2021 (8).
  • Three AMU players are averaging double figure points, led by Lavariah Armstead's 13.5 points a night.
  • Ave Maria has been a solid defensive team this season, holding opponents to 36.9 percent shooting from the field.
  • AMU is in its first season under head coach Alex Moorehead, who previously served as head girls' basketball coach at Deer Creek High School in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Series History
  • Florida Memorial leads the all-time series against the Gyrenes 11-5.
  • The Lions have won the past four meetings, including a 100-42 victory during the 2021 season.
  • FMU is 4-4 when playing at Ave Maria but has won the past two meetings on the Gyrenes' home floor.

Keys To Victory
  • The Lions cannot have a ludicrously poor shooting performance. Even matching its 40.4 percent shooting clip from the field should be sufficient to put FMU in position to win.
  • Rebounding will also be a big factor – Ave Maria is the second-best rebounding team in the Sun Conference.
