MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University hopes that a nearly three-week respite will have recharged its collective batteries as it prepares to travel to face Webber International University Thursday afternoon at 4 p.m.

About The Lions (1-5, 0-5 SUN)
  • FMU last played on March 5th, when it was handed a tough 46-6 loss to rival St. Thomas University.
  • Bitten by the injury bug, the 18-day break gave the Lions a chance to see the healthy return of a handful of players.
  • Head coach Jonathan Alvarez also used the extended time off to continue integrating freshman quarterback Diamond Mays into his offense. Mays, who also plays for the Florida Memorial women's basketball team, missed four of the first five games of the season as the respective programs' schedules overlapped.
  • Freshman wide receiver/defensive back Erika Johnson continues to prove herself as not only the Lions' top athlete but one of the top flag football players in the Sun Conference.

Scouting Webber International (5-4, 1-4 SUN)
  • Webber International enters Thursday's game as winners of its previous four.
  • The Warriors have seemingly found their offensive groove recently, posting 36.5 points per game in the past four games.
  • WIU freshman quarterback Samantha Wilson leads the team with 1,523 passing yards and 20 touchdowns and just eight interceptions.

Series History
  • Florida Memorial trails the all-time series against Webber 0-1.
  • The first meeting between the teams was earlier this season – the Lions' first-ever home game that ended in a 33-6 win for WIU.

Keys To Victory
  • Turnovers had plagued FMU earlier this season; having had extra practice time recently should help in that area.
  • The Lions must get a pass rush on Wilson. Amealia Smith recorded four sacks over the previous two games and needs to continue that trend against Webber International.
