MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Florida Memorial University will be looking to snare two feats – its first home win and first conference victory – when it hosts Keiser University Thursday evening at 6 p.m. at Bunche Park Field in Miami Gardens.

About The Lions (1-6, 0-6 SUN)
  • FMU had a disappointing outing this past weekend (March 24), being handed a 32-0 loss by Webber International University after having nearly three weeks to rest and prepare.
  • Thaymiluz Santos started at quarterback against the Warriors and completed 13 of her 26 passes for 100 yards but had two interceptions.
  • Linsley Francois, who recently returned to the lineup after missing most of the 2021 and 2022 seasons, caught five passes for 52 yards.
  • Lions head coach Jonathan Alvarez has seen his team continue to be chomped on by the injury bug as multiple players are currently out.
  • Even with the shuffled lineups, Ericka Johnson and Amealia Smith have been reliable two-way options for Florida Memorial this season.

Scouting Keiser (5-1, 4-1 SUN)
  • Keiser enters Thursday's game rested – last playing on March 10th – and on a five-game winning streak.
  • The Seahawks shutout St. Thomas University 19-0 in their last regular season game.
  • Sophomore quarterback Jazmin Rhoden leads the team, completing 70 percent (139 of 198) of her passes with 17 touchdowns and 6 interceptions.

Series History
  • Keiser defeated FMU 27-7 in the first meeting between the program earlier this season.
  • Thursday's game will be the first matchup with the Lions as the home team.

Keys To Victory
  • Cutting down on turnovers continues to be chief key for FMU. Because their offensive continuity hasn't been able to coalesce because of the numerous injuries, the Lions cannot afford to giveaway offensive possessions.
  • In contrast, the Florida Memorial defense needs to generate turnovers – and maybe even points – of its own to succor the offense.
