Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial dropped its season opener to the top ranked team in the NAIA in Missouri Baptist 3-1 (25-22, 10-25, 19-25, 16-25) at the Fernandez Family Center on the campus of St. Thomas University.
The Lions started off on fire, taking control of the first set with kills from
Caroline Souza and Rafaela Nogueria.
Senior setter Agustina Bosque led the team with 27 assists and also tied a game-high with 10 digs while Souza led the team in kills with 11. Defensive specialist
Shainell Taylor also tied a game-high with 10 digs. Teammate and outside hitter
Maria Rodriguez chipped in with a team-high two solo blocks in the loss.
As a team, FMU finished with 52 total digs while Missouri Baptist produced 54.
The Lions return to action on Wednesday, August 24 for the home opener versus Florida National. First serve is set for 7 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
