NEW ORLEANS, La. | The Florida Memorial men's indoor track and field team is ranked 20th in the nation in the NAIA Men's Indoor Track and Field USTFCCCA National TFRI : Track and Field Rating Index (Week 1).
Here is the first edition of the
NAIA Men's Indoor Track & Field National TFRI, as released on Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA). No marks from previous seasons have been used, which means this objective list is compiled solely of current qualifying marks from the 2023 indoor track & field season.

Southeastern (Fla.) finds itself as the top-ranked team to open up the indoor season. The Fire have 10 national top-10 marks with nine of them coming from the sprints and relays. James Williamson III is a double national leader in the 60 meters (6.62) and 200 meters (21.05). Two other athletes for the Fire hold two top-10 efforts in the sprints: Joseph Taylor in the 200 meters (No. 3, 21.39) and 400 meters (No. 3, 47.65); Davien Worrels in the 200 meters (No. 5, 21.51) and 400 meters (No. 9, 48.59).
Milligan (Tenn.) begins the year ranked second behind the strength of its distance squad.. The Buffs have a total of 12 national top-10 performances on the Descending Order List. Byrn Woodall accounts for four of those efforts, as he is the national leader in the 1000 meters (2:26.58c) and 3000 meters (8:08.79c), third in the 5000 meters (14:23.95), and part of the second-ranked 4×800 relay (7:59.62c).
Life (Ga.) comes in third, according to the National TFRI, after claiming nine national top-10 performances. Jacob Ulrich leads the team with a trio of No. 1 performances in the 400 meters (47.33), 600 meters (1:17.13), and as a member of the Running Eagles' 4×400 relay (3:12.59). Josh Wagner is another performer with multiple top-10 marks in the mile, 3000 meters and 5000 meters.
Dordt (Iowa) owns the fourth spot in the season's first set of rankings. Peyton Mauldin is ranked first in the 800 meters (1:50.87), second in the 600 meters (1:17.93c), and part of the Defenders' third-ranked 4×400 relay (3:16.10). The Defenders have a total of eight top-10 performances on the Descending Order List.
Concordia (Neb.) starts the year in fifth after picking up eight top-10 performances. The Bulldogs' Distance Medley Relay clocked 10:10.06c for the team's lone national leader. Calvin Rohde, a member of that top-ranked relay, is also ranked fourth in the 1000 meters.
Here are the rest of the top-10 teams in Week 1: No. 6 Indiana Tech, No. 7 Doane (Neb.), No. 8 Keiser (Fla.), No. 9 Oklahoma City and No. 10 Midland (Neb.).
Mark your calendars for March 2-4, as that's when the 2023 NAIA Indoor Track & Field Championships will be held at the Sanford-Jackrabbit Athletic Complex in Brookings, South Dakota.
