FMU wins 13th straight SUN conference game in 72-64 victory over Ave Maria

Box Score AVE MARIA, Fla. | Florida Memorial survived a scare en route to their 13th straight conference victory, this time over Ave Maria by the score of 70-64 at the Donahue Gym. The win lifts FMU to 19-5 overall and 13-1 in SUN conference play.

Four-time SUN Women's Basketball Player of the Week Aliyah-Deen Ahmad led the way with a game-high 25 points and seven rebounds, and was virtually unstoppable at moments throughout the game. Tianna Ayulo, who found herself in foul trouble early on, came back in the game in the fourth quarter after missing the third quarter and produced 15 points to go along with six boards.

Post player Jazmine Worthy proved to be a dominant force on the block as she finished with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 14 rebounds before fouling out of the contest.

The Lions were outrebounded 51-36, but forced the Gyrenes to 24 turnovers while committing 14. As a result, FMU scored 29 points off the 24 Ave Maria turnovers.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, February 11 as they host Southeastern. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
