FMU conference game suspended in 60th min. due to lightning

Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial allowed a goal in the first 13 seconds of the contest before battling through the first half, eventually falling to Warner 2-0 at Dr. Lester Brown Park.

The match was suspended in the 60th minute due to lightning, but before mother nature took its course, the Lions had numerous chances inside the penalty area yet could not finish.

Speedster Amealia Smith generated a team-high three shots while teammate Kiara Kallie finished with two.

FMU goalkeeper Maria Goncalves Guimares produced four saves in the loss, which drops FMU to 0-3 in conference play.

FMU returns to action on Saturday, Sept. 23 as they head across the street to face St. Thomas in the Battle of Miami Gardens. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m.
