Fourth quarter comeback secures FMU victory over Coastal Georgia

As a team, FMU shot over 40 percent from downtown.

Box Score BRUNSWICK, Ga. | Florida Memorial exploded in the fourth quarter, outscoring Coastal Georgia 21-11 en route to a 61-60 victory over the Mariners. The Lions took the lead with less than two minutes to go and put on a great defensive effort in the final seconds to secure their second conference win of the season, avenging their loss in the first meeting less than a month prior.

Freshmen Kalea Rainey led FMU in scoring with 17 points, going 6-of-12 from the field to go along with three steals and a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line. Forward Diamond Mays added 12 points for the Lions, going 4-of-5 from downtown, while Philly native Nyah Johnson chipped in 10 points for the Lions.

The win ends a three-game losing skid for Florida Memorial, moving them to 10-13 on the year and 2-8 in conference play.

The Lions return to action, Wednesday, February 14, where they'll host Ave Maria on Valentine's Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
