MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial fell to Ave Maria 71-66 after holding a one-point lead at the half.
The Lions failed to gain consistency in the third quarter, only scoring seven points, before ramping up in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Gyrenes 26-24, but it wasn't enough.
Florida Memorial was led by graduate student
Dasiah Thornton, who finished with 18 points, going 6-of-18 from the field along with seven rebounds. Guard
Kalea Rainey added 16 points, going 3-of-5 from downtown, while Philly native
Nyah Johnson chipped in nine points for the Lions.
The loss drops FMU to 10-14 on the year and 2-9 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Saturday, February 17, where they'll host Webber International for Senior Day. Tip-off is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
