AVE MARIA, Fla. | Florida Memorial University's volleyball team traveled to Ave Maria University to take on the Gyrenes, where they fell 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-17).
FMU generated 23 kills in the match, with freshman Desiree Donald leading the team with nine, but allowed 33 kills to AMU. Senior Arianna Ortiz added two aces for the Lions, while freshman Lauryn Brown led in assists with 13. On the defensive end, Donald led with six digs, while Oritz and Brown chipped in five digs for the Lions.
The loss drops FMU to 1-9 on the year and 0-2 in conference play.
The Lions returned to action Friday, September 13, where they'll host Clark Atlanta University for non-conference play. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. at the FMU Wellness Center.
