Second-Half Dominance Propels FMU to 3-0 Victory Over Warner

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial University put on a second half clinic against Warner, defeating the Royals 3-0 at Dr. Lester Brown Park, for their first conference win of the season.

The first half went scoreless on both sides, which included a half-hour lightning delay in the 38th minute. The Lions broke the scoreless tie with sophomore Frank Sanchez, who found the back of the net in the 55th minute, to give FMU the lead. The Lions continues the scoring in the 61st minute, when senior Carlo Lopez scored his first goal of the season to propel FMU to 2-0 over the Royals. The hat trick was complete, when sophomore Nasreddine Benbella scored his fifth goal of the season in the 79th minute, putting the match out of reach, and sealing the win for FMU.

Goalkeeper Ricardo Delgado Villalobos has a stellar day defending the net, playing all 90 minutes and allowing 0 goals.

The win advances FMU to 3-5-3 on the year and 1-1-1 in conference play.

The Lions return to action Saturday, October 11, when they'll travel to West Palm Beach to take on Palm Beach Atlantic. Kickoff is slated for 5 p.m.
