MIAMI, Fla. | Florida Memorial Women's Basketball has been hot winning eight of their last 10 and six straight Sun Conference games. The Lions took down Ave Maria, handing the Gyrenes their first loss in league play. On the Men's Basketball side of the conference, Webber International took down Thomas to give them their league action loss. The Warriors are riding a three game win streak heading into the second half of play.
Both teams winning ways led to weekly honors for both programs. These awards are based on performances from January 2 to 8.

Sun Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Aliyah-Deen Ahmad – Florida Memorial | Gr. – Guard – Corona, Calif.
Ahmad averaged 28 points on a perfect 2-0 week for the Lions, who snapped a 20-game losing streak to Southeastern in an 80-69 victory, then knocked off the top team in the conference with a 91-68 win over Ave Maria. Ahmad scored a season-high 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds against the Gyrenes.

Sun Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week
K'Shun Stokes – Webber International | Jr. – Guard – Headland, Ala.
Stokes showed why he is one of the top players in the conference this week after averaging 27.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in three-straight victories for the Warriors. He recorded his third 30+ point game of the season in a win over Coastal Georgia and helped Webber hand RV Thomas their first conference defeat in which he came one rebound shy of a double-double with 22 points and nine rebounds.
