MIAMI, Fla. – Baseball season openers had friendly competition amongst Sun Conference opponents. Ave Maria sept the first weekly honors on the diamond. Riley Minix collects his seventh weekly honor in competition with Florida Memorial's Aliyah-Deen Ahmad who has her third weekly honor this season. Southeastern continues to dominate on the track taking three of the four athletes of the week.
 
These awards are based on performances from January 23 to 30.

Basketball Players of the Week


Sun Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week
Aliyah-Deen Ahmad – Florida Memorial | Gr. – Guard – Corona, Calif.
Aliyah-Deen continues her dominance in conference play and averaged 24 points and 7.5 assists for the week in victories over Keiser and Warner. The Lions have now won eight straight conference games and sit atop of the women's basketball standings.
 


Sun Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week
Riley Minix – Southeastern |Sr. – Shooting Guard – Vero Beach, Fla.
Riley Minix continued to put up monster numbers last week, pushing his team to two more SUN wins after tallying 65 points and 26 rebounds in just two contests. The senior averaged 32.5 points per game and 13 rebounds per game and shot 71% from the field. From distance, Minix went 6-10 while also recording six assists on the week. Minix continues to lead the SUN in scoring, rebounding, field-goal percentage, and blocked shots.
