Florida Memorial University Track and Field Team had an impressive showing at the Embry-Riddle University Last Chance Meet on Saturday, as the team close out the indoor season and gear up for a big outdoor season.
Gerrard Burrows dominated the men's Discus Throw, taking first and throwing a season best of 46.29 meters (151-10 Feet), while
Corion Knight paced the men's long jump with a third place finish in a leap of 6.66 meters (21-10 Feet).
Gerrard Burrows also led the Lions in the weight throw, just missing first but finishing in second with a toss of 13.57 meters (44-06 Feet).
Mya Carr and
Shakirah Shabazz led their respective flights in the 200-meter dash preliminaries, while Carr also finished atop the pack for FMU with a 26.52 -second sprint, the Lions fastest time of 2015. Shabazz finished towards the top of the pack in the 60-meter running an 8.16 second race.
A speedy
Willi Anstral finished a season best in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.68, and
James Cochran ran a season best of 52.23 in the 400 meters.
Florida Memorial University Track and Field will return to action on February 28, 2015, when they Travel to Tallahassee, Florida to take part in the FAMU Relays.
