Box Score MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. | Florida Memorial suffers its third conference loss of the season, this time at the hands of the Coastal Georgia Mariners. The defending SUN Conference champions were down to six available players for the contest that ended in a 64-59 loss at the FMU Wellness Center.
Despite the lack of players, FMU roared in the first 12 minutes of action, taking an 11-point lead over Coastal Georgia. CCG proceeded to go on a run of 14 unanswered points to take a three-point lead over FMU. The Lions kept it close but could never regain the lead, ending in their third straight loss in conference play.
The Lions were led by graduate student
Dasiah Thornton, who finished with 17 points, going 4-of-11 from the field and 7-of-9 from the charity stripe. Philly native
Quameerah Peterson-Gray followed suit with 15 points, going 4-of-4 from the free-throw line along with six rebounds, while Sunrise native
Madison Sjogreen chipped in 14 points for the Lions.
The loss marks the third straight for FMU, dropping them to 8-7 on the year and 0-3 in conference play.
The Lions return to action, on Wednesday, January 17 where they'll travel to Ave Maria University to take on the Gyrenes. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. in Ave Maria, Fla.
