The graduate student rose to the occasion, making both of her foul shots to give FMU a one-point lead and eventually the win.

Diamond Mays led the Lions in scoring with 14 points, going 5-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from downtown while
Cor'Niya Johnson added 12 points, going 3-of-5 from the charity stripe while Thornton chipped in with nine points for the Lions.
The win moves FMU to 9-10 on the year as the team ends a six-game skid and improves to 1-6 in conference play.
The Lions return to action Monday, January 29 where they'll travel to Florida National to take on the Conquistadors. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Hialeah, Fla.
